Mechanical Engineer (Heavy Manufacturing) (#26-485)

Position Overview

A large-scale heavy industrial manufacturing facility in the Steelton, Pennsylvania area is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support operations within a high-volume production environment.

This role is instrumental in maintaining, optimizing, and improving heavy industrial equipment used in large-diameter steel pipe manufacturing and coating processes. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in heavy manufacturing, deep mechanical aptitude, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across operations, maintenance, quality, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for large-scale manufacturing equipment including forming, welding, material handling, coating, and inspection systems

  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and uptime

  • Lead and support capital improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and process optimization projects

  • Interpret and apply mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and industry standards

  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs

  • Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to meet production, safety, and quality objectives

  • Coordinate with vendors on equipment installations, commissioning, and technical documentation

  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and industry requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience

  • 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience within heavy manufacturing or industrial environments

  • Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and production equipment

  • Experience in high-throughput, continuous production settings

  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with API pipe manufacturing standards, including API 5L

  • Background in steel production, pipe manufacturing, or large-scale fabrication

  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing processes and quality inspection systems

  • Experience supporting welding-intensive manufacturing operations

  • Maintenance or reliability engineering experience
