Position Overview
A large-scale heavy industrial manufacturing facility in the Steelton, Pennsylvania area is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support operations within a high-volume production environment.
This role is instrumental in maintaining, optimizing, and improving heavy industrial equipment used in large-diameter steel pipe manufacturing and coating processes. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience in heavy manufacturing, deep mechanical aptitude, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across operations, maintenance, quality, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for large-scale manufacturing equipment including forming, welding, material handling, coating, and inspection systems
Troubleshoot mechanical failures, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability and uptime
Lead and support capital improvement initiatives, equipment upgrades, and process optimization projects
Interpret and apply mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and industry standards
Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to meet production, safety, and quality objectives
Coordinate with vendors on equipment installations, commissioning, and technical documentation
Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, and industry requirements
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline, or equivalent hands-on experience
8+ years of mechanical engineering experience within heavy manufacturing or industrial environments
Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex mechanical systems and production equipment
Experience in high-throughput, continuous production settings
Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with API pipe manufacturing standards, including API 5L
Background in steel production, pipe manufacturing, or large-scale fabrication
Familiarity with non-destructive testing processes and quality inspection systems
Experience supporting welding-intensive manufacturing operations
Maintenance or reliability engineering experience
