Position Overview:
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of daily manufacturing and facility operations. This role ensures that production runs efficiently, safely, and at consistent quality levels. The Director will guide operational strategy, refine processes, elevate performance, and lead continuous improvement efforts. Close collaboration with senior leadership is essential to support growth plans, strengthen the safety culture, and maintain peak operational output.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Oversee day to day manufacturing, production, quality, maintenance, logistics, and supply chain activities.
Ensure production goals are met on time, within budget, and at required quality levels.
Align short term and long term operational plans with organizational objectives.
Process Improvement and Efficiency
Develop and execute strategies that increase productivity, reduce downtime, and maximize resource utilization.
Streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve throughput.
Identify opportunities for automation, cost savings, and operational enhancements.
Quality and Safety Management
Maintain strong quality control practices and compliance with industry standards.
Champion a strong safety culture and enforce safety procedures throughout the facility.
Lead investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to safety or quality events.
Equipment and Facilities Oversight
Manage equipment performance, preventive maintenance plans, and capital improvement projects.
Ensure facility operations support efficient production and meet regulatory requirements.
People Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and develop managers and operational staff.
Promote accountability, communication, and cross functional collaboration.
Support recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
Vendor and Supply Chain Management
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and logistics partners.
Manage material availability, inventory levels, and cost effective procurement practices.
Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate terms when necessary.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated success overseeing complex production operations and leading multi functional teams.
Strong understanding of Lean principles, continuous improvement practices, and modern manufacturing operations.
Excellent leadership, communication, decision making, and problem solving skills.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
At least 7 years of operations leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with tubular, metal fabrication, or heavy industrial production is required.
Physical Requirements:
This role requires an ability to perform tasks that involve talking, hearing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
Regular standing, walking, using hands for handling or feeling, and reaching with arms is also required.
Vision needs include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
