Business Development Manager - Modular/Skid Pump Systems (#25-445)

Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) for the Power Generation Market drives new customer development, strategic growth, and market expansion for engineered and packaged systems. This role focuses on selling solutions such as Fuel Gas Conditioning Skids, Ammonia Handling Systems, Fuel Forwarding Pump Skids, Fire Pump Packages, and Centrifugal Pumps into EPCs, OEMs, utilities, IPPs, and end-user organizations supporting simple cycle, combined cycle, and SMR power projects. The BDM partners closely with internal technical and sales teams to develop opportunities and ensure successful execution across new and existing accounts.
Key Responsibilities
Market Development & Strategy
Identify and evaluate new business opportunities in the power generation sector, including utilities, EPCs, OEMs, IPPs, contractors, and consulting engineering firms.
Develop and execute strategic plans to promote engineered, packaged systems and pump solutions.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to inform business strategy.
Sales & Revenue Growth
Drive profitable sales of Fuel Gas Conditioning Skids, Ammonia Handling Systems, Fuel Forwarding Pump Skids, Fire Pump Packages, Centrifugal Pumps, and related engineered systems.
Identify and develop new customers in the power generation market and manage the full sales cycle from lead generation through contract negotiation and closing.
Support development of opportunities for Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, SMR, and other power generation projects, including new build and brownfield applications.
Follow up in a timely manner on PEC reports and other sales leads to generate opportunities for in-person or virtual meetings and to quote IPS packaged systems and products.
Conduct customer meetings and presentations, build long-term relationships, and close orders.
Utilize and maintain CRM tools, including Salesforce, to capture all proposals, customer interactions, and project opportunity activities.
Work closely with the applications team on proposal development, participate in weekly project update meetings, and provide timely customer and project feedback.
Participate in internal operations kickoff meetings and customer kickoff meetings for new orders.
Participate with project managers and customers in project-related meetings throughout execution.
Meet or exceed quarterly and annual bookings and revenue targets.
Client & Account Collaboration
Work closely with sales representatives assigned to existing EPCs and key accounts to ensure consistent messaging, customer satisfaction, and opportunity development.
Interface with customers through regular sales calls to establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
Provide technical and commercial support to clients to ensure high satisfaction and repeat business.
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and conferences.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with applications, engineering, project management, and operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
Provide customer feedback to support product development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, bids, and technical documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field, Mechanical Engineering preferred.
Minimum 5 years of experience in business development or technical sales within the power generation market or industrial equipment sector.
Strong understanding of engineered and packaged systems and rotating equipment, including centrifugal pumps, blowers, and fluid handling systems.
Ability to read and understand equipment specifications, packaged system documentation, and P&IDs.
Proven track record of developing new markets and closing complex, technical sales.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel up to 50 percent.
Preferred Skills
Experience with engineered systems for the power generation market, including fuel handling, chemical injection, fluid conditioning, and fire protection systems.
Familiarity with power generation technologies including gas turbines, simple cycle and combined cycle plants, renewables, and emerging technologies such as SMRs.
Proficiency in CRM tools such as Salesforce.
Strong technical aptitude with the ability to communicate complex mechanical systems to diverse stakeholders.
Multilingual capabilities are a plus but not required.
Experience working with EPCs and OEMs in a collaborative, team-based sales environment.
Ability to align with account managers and sales representatives to ensure unified customer engagement and strategic opportunity development.
Strong interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and alignment across internal and external sales channels.
Ability to navigate complex customer organizations and influence technical and commercial decision-making processes.
