PVF Business Development Manager - Energy (#25-470)

Location: Houston, TX or Kansas City, MO

Position Overview:

A well established Pipe, Valve, and Fitting (PVF) manufacturer & distributor in the energy sectors is seeking a Business Development Manager to support growth across a defined territory. This role focuses on expanding product specifications, strengthening relationships with EPCs, engineering firms, and end users, and positioning the company’s solutions early in the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings a strategic mindset, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to influence key decision makers in complex commercial and industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess the assigned territory and partner with regional leadership to identify and prioritize high value accounts.

  • Develop an annual business strategy to increase product specification, including master specs, project specs, and owner standards

  • Expand the company’s presence among owners, engineers, general contractors, and other stakeholders through targeted outreach and relationship building.

  • Use CRM tools to document opportunities, share project insights, and collaborate with the commercial sales team.

  • Coordinate project transitions at the appropriate stages to ensure smooth handoff to internal teams.

  • Build expertise in:

    • Product applications, technical features, and competitive positioning.

    • Specification development and technical language.

    • Market trends, influencing channels, and industry dynamics.

  • Participate actively in local associations, trade groups, and industry events to maintain a visible presence within the territory.

  • Gather market intelligence, track competitor activity, and identify new opportunities.

  • Support additional initiatives or responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related technical field.

  • Prior sales or business development experience within industrial, construction, or engineering markets.

  • Demonstrated success managing accounts, developing specifications, and winning complex sales opportunities.

  • Strong communication and project management skills.

  • Ability to write or interpret design specifications is an asset.

  • Self motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with a broader team.

  • Adaptable, resourceful, and skilled at problem solving in fast moving environments

  • Willingness to travel overnight within the territory.
