AP / Payroll Specialist (#26-487)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-driven AP / Payroll Specialist to lead bi-weekly payroll processing while providing steady, reliable support to Accounts Payable. This role is ideal for a payroll-focused professional who takes pride in precision, compliance, and being the trusted resource employees and leadership rely on for financial accuracy.

What You’ll Do

Bi-Weekly Payroll Processing

  • Lead full-cycle payroll preparation and processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal and provincial legislation.

  • Validate time records, earnings, deductions, and benefits before submission.

Employee Data & Adjustments

  • Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, ROEs, and statutory deductions.

  • Administer benefits and ensure accurate system entries across platforms.

Payroll Reconciliation & Reporting

  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries.

  • Support month-end close processes and provide payroll reporting to Finance and HR.

Employee Support & Confidentiality

  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries professionally and confidentially.

  • Ensure a positive employee experience through clear communication and issue resolution.

Systems & Data Integrity

  • Maintain accurate data within ERP and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, ADP, and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.

  • Ensure strong internal controls and audit-ready documentation.

Accounts Payable Support

  • Assist with invoice entry, coding, and vendor inquiries during peak periods.

  • Support AP reconciliations and discrepancy resolution at month-end.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll and AP workflows.

  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure smooth, integrated processes.

What You’ll Bring

Experience

  • 5+ years of payroll-focused experience, with exposure to Accounts Payable.

  • Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and compliance requirements.

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • PCP designation or CPA considered an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with accounting and payroll systems such as QuickBooks, ADP, and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
