AI & Automation Strategy Manager (#26-497)

Job Description:

We are seeking an AI & Automation Strategy Manager to support digital transformation, automation, and AI initiatives across manufacturing and business operations. This is a fully in-person role based in Downtown Houston, with travel to facilities in Baytown, TX and Mississippi as needed.

This role is ideal for someone who can combine technical understanding with strong business thinking. The selected candidate will help evaluate technology opportunities, assess feasibility, compare vendors, define implementation requirements, and support a practical roadmap for automation and digital transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of AI, automation, and digital transformation strategies across the organization.

  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, safety, visibility, workflows, and decision-making.

  • Assist with projects involving process optimization, predictive maintenance, quality monitoring, inventory visibility, analytics, and reporting automation.

  • Evaluate business value, technical feasibility, implementation requirements, costs, and impact of proposed initiatives.

  • Research and assess vendors, software platforms, and implementation partners, providing recommendations to leadership.

  • Translate business and operational needs into clear technology requirements and project plans.

  • Support implementation efforts including vendor demos, pilot programs, testing, rollout planning, and project tracking.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 4–8 years of experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or managerial-level role, in AI, automation, digital transformation, manufacturing systems, industrial technology, analytics, technology consulting, or related areas.

  • Strong understanding of software, automation, data, and AI applications for business and operational improvement.

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing, industrial automation, or digital manufacturing concepts.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work across technical and non-technical teams and translate business needs into actionable plans.

  • Experience with technologies such as AI, machine learning, IoT, ERP, CRM, workflow automation, analytics dashboards, or industrial software platforms.

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and project management/documentation tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred.

  • Experience with Python, SQL, APIs, cloud platforms, BI tools, or low-code/no-code automation tools is a plus.

  • Experience supporting vendor evaluations, technology pilots, software implementations, or digital transformation projects.

  • Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, Azure, AWS, LLM platforms, ERP systems, CRM systems, or automation platforms is beneficial.

  • Knowledge of industry standards such as API, ISO, ASTM, or ASME is a plus.
