Senior Maintenance Technician - Turbines (#25-468)

Location: Greater Houston Area, TX

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Technician to support long term service agreements (LTSA) across North America, as well as occasional international service assignments. This position splits time between shop work and field deployments. The technician will be responsible for advanced mechanical and controls support on GE and Baker Hughes turbine systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technician with strong leadership skills, deep technical knowledge, a high personal standard for safety and quality, and the ability to resolve challenges under pressure.

Primary Responsibilities

Maintenance and Repair, Shop and Field

  • Perform inspections, scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on turbine equipment from GE and Baker Hughes.

  • Execute controls and mechanical diagnostics, calibrations, and performance upgrades.

  • Lead teardown and rebuild activities including alignments and component replacement.

  • Support commissioning and decommissioning tasks required under LTSA contracts.

  • Maintain clear documentation of all service work.

LTSA Program Support

  • Serve as technical lead for assigned LTSA accounts.

  • Work collaboratively with engineering and operations to plan long term maintenance activities.

  • Offer recommendations to improve equipment reliability and customer satisfaction.

Training and Mentorship

  • Support training of new technicians and field personnel.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for turbine systems and mechanical controls.

  • Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all site specific requirements.

  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

Technical

  • Expert troubleshooting and repair of rotating equipment including turbines, compressors, and gearboxes.

  • Controls diagnostics and calibration experience on both analog and digital systems.

  • Advanced knowledge of GE and Baker Hughes turbine platforms, both current and legacy.

  • Understanding of instrumentation, electrical systems, PLCs, sensors, and actuators.

  • Ability to perform laser and dial indicator alignment, vibration analysis, and interpretation.

  • Experience using CMMS for maintenance planning and documentation.

  • Ability to read P&IDs, drawings, wiring diagrams, and mechanical schematics.

  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and remote monitoring tools.

  • Skilled with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Use of borescopes, multimeters, data loggers, and other diagnostic tools.

Professional

  • Leadership in both field and shop environments while mentoring junior technicians.

  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build credibility and trust.

  • Clear documentation including reports, RCAs, service logs, and recommendations.

  • Ability to prioritize workload in fast moving environments.

  • Strong problem solving and decision making, especially under outage or emergency conditions.

  • Flexible and adaptable to evolving technologies and customer needs.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • High ethical standards and accountability.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a cross functional team.

Education, Certifications, and Experience

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical or associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or similar field preferred.

Certifications (Preferred)

  • GE turbine training or certification

  • Baker Hughes turbine training or certification

  • OSHA 30 or equivalent safety credential

  • Instrumentation and Controls Technician certification

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years in turbine maintenance.

  • Proven experience with GE and Baker Hughes turbine models.

  • Experience working with OEM and vendor networks.

  • Experience in both field service and shop based maintenance.

  • Familiarity with long term service agreement processes.
