Accounting Clerk (Entry Level) (#25-467)

Location: Houston, TX

Position Summary:

The Accounting Clerk plays a key role in supporting the daily functions of the accounting department through a variety of clerical and bookkeeping duties. The ideal candidate will bring at least two years of accounting or finance experience, a keen eye for detail, and strong organizational skills. This role assists with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable:

  • Process vendor invoices, expense reports, and check requests.

  • Verify invoice accuracy, coding, and required approvals.

  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies quickly.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Prepare and send customer invoices and account statements.

  • Record incoming payments and follow up on overdue balances.

  • Assist with reconciling accounts receivable records.

General Accounting:

  • Assist with monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Post journal entries and maintain supporting documentation

  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.

  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records.

Reporting & Department Support:

  • Assist with the preparation of financial reports and audits.

  • Provide support to the Accounting Manager and team on special projects or analyses.

  • Ensure all work aligns with company policies and accounting standards.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (QuickBooks, SAP, NetSuite, or similar).

  • Solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles (GAAP).

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong organization and time management abilities.

  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player.

  • Able to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Work Environment

  • Office-based role with occasional hybrid flexibility (if applicable).

  • Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
