Quality Manager - Steel Pipe (#25-451)

About the Facility

This facility manufactures and coats large-diameter steel line pipe. It produces straight seam DSAW pipe in diameters ranging from 24” to 42”, in grades up to X-80 and in lengths up to 80’. The operation uses advanced welding, pipe mill tracking, and non-destructive testing technologies. Inspection processes meet the pipeline industry’s highest standards for steel pipe quality.

Position Summary

The Quality Manager will oversee all aspects of product quality control for DSAW pipe manufacturing operations. This role ensures production meets or exceeds industry, customer, and internal standards while maintaining compliance with API and other applicable certifications. Responsibilities include developing quality control processes, managing inspections, and leading the quality and lab teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interface with leadership regarding production capabilities, quality control status, and customer readiness

  • Ensure compliance with safety policies; promote a safe work environment

  • Hold the quality team accountable to performance metrics; maintain a hands-on presence in lab and production areas

  • Oversee hiring, training, and development of Quality and Lab personnel

  • Implement inspection, testing, and evaluation methods for DSAW pipe and equipment

  • Maintain API and other relevant manufacturing certifications

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for quality and cost efficiency

  • Ensure products meet stringent quality standards and customer specifications

  • Prepare and analyze quality reports; recommend corrective actions

  • Track pipe and coil throughout the manufacturing process with full accuracy

  • Conduct and document final pipe inspections per customer, industry, and API standards

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5)  years in a quality management role, preferably in steel pipe or heavy manufacturing

  • Associate degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • API Pipe manufacturing experience preferred, DSAW experience highly desirable

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., work in standing positions for extended periods, climb ladders, work overhead, and perform other physical tasks as required

  • Successful completion of background and substance screening is required
