QC Superintendent (Manufacturing (#26-479)

Location: Atchison, KS

Position Overview

The QC Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and continuously improving quality control programs, inspection processes, and testing activities within a manufacturing environment. This role ensures products meet established quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations while supporting operational efficiency and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain quality control systems, procedures, and inspection standards across all stages of production.

  • Develop, review, and analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Establish inspection methods and acceptance criteria to ensure consistent product quality.

  • Partner with production and operations leadership to align quality objectives with manufacturing processes and cost goals.

  • Communicate quality expectations and requirements to management, inspectors, and hourly personnel.

  • Ensure all NDT equipment, laboratory tools, and testing devices are properly maintained, verified, and calibrated according to schedule.

  • Perform or oversee chemical and mechanical testing as needed.

  • Coordinate training programs to ensure the workforce meets quality procedures and standards.

  • Provide direct training and mentorship to quality inspectors.

  • Supervise inspection and testing personnel to maintain effective control over materials, facilities, and finished products.

  • Support investigation and resolution of quality claims, complaints, and nonconformances.

  • Coordinate and oversee third-party inspection activities, including scheduling and verification of work performed.

  • Assist customers with technical quality-related inquiries when required.

  • Conduct internal and external failure analysis and drive corrective actions.

  • Promote a safe and organized work environment through enforcement of safety policies and housekeeping standards.

  • Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a high-performing quality team with a focus on accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Review, approve, and manage employee time records and schedules.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.

  • Solid understanding of quality systems, inspection processes, and manufacturing operations.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

  • UT Level II certification preferred.

  • Mechanical testing laboratory experience preferred.

  • Associate degree preferred, equivalent experience considered.

  • Experience with ERP systems, including SAP, preferred.
