QC Manager - Pipe (#26-513)

Location: Atchison, KS

Position Summary:

Responsible for implementing and maintaining all quality control procedures and equipment to ensure the attainment of the company quality standards.  Performs spot checks at various stages in the production process to ensure compliance with all established procedures. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops and analyzes statistical data.  

  • Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures. 

  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs. 

  • Interprets quality control philosophy to key personnel in organization. 

  • Ensure all NDT and lab equipment is in proper operating condition.  

  • Prepare and perform chemical and mechanical tests on an as-needed basis.  

  • Maintain and schedule training for hourly work force to meet quality standards and procedures.  

  • Provide in-house training of inspectors.  

  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products. 

  • Ensure that testing and measuring devices are calibrated/verified at the prescribed frequencies.  

  • Assist in claim/complaint resolution.  

  • Schedule, assist, witness and/or verify work of third-party inspection personnel.  

  • Provide technical assistance to customers.  

  • Prevent/inspect non-conformances and conduct failure analysis (internal and external).  

  • Promote safety through enforcement of current safety rules to all employees.  

  • Ensure immediate work area is safe and clean.  

  • Perform other duties as directed.   

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Build team and individual capability, ensuring personal effectiveness for work in current and future roles.

  • Personnel: review and approve time sheets

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication. 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) 

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years Quality experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory position. 

  • UT Level 2 preferred.

  • Mechanical testing lab experience preferred.     

  • Associate degree preferred but waived with applicable experience. 

  • SAP experience preferred.
