Job Overview
The Process Engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality process engineering solutions across all project phases, including FEED, detailed engineering, and commissioning support. This role ensures facilities are technically robust, safe, operable, compliant, and economically optimized while meeting contractual requirements and client objectives through close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
The position supports engineering, customer service, and project teams to ensure designs operate safely, efficiently, and reliably in accordance with applicable international standards and internal specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Heat & Material Balances
Perform process simulations using Aspen HYSYS, UniSim, ProMax, or similar software
Size and specify process equipment including separators, compressors, pumps, exchangers, columns, and treatment packages
Perform hydraulic calculations and system analysis for flare, relief, and piping systems
Participate in Conceptual Design, FEED, and Detailed Engineering phases
Prepare key engineering deliverables such as Process Design Basis documents, equipment datasheets, line lists, tie-in lists, control narratives, and Cause & Effect diagrams
Coordinate with Mechanical, Piping, Instrumentation & Controls, and Electrical disciplines
Participate in safety studies including HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA
Design and validate relief systems, including PSVs, flare systems, and safeguarding systems
Ensure compliance with standards and regulations such as API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA, ISO, IEC, OSHA, EPA, and local codes
Support procurement activities and technical bid evaluations
Support FAT, SIT, commissioning, and start-up activities
Review installation procedures and start-up protocols
Provide troubleshooting support during commissioning and early operations
Identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements
Support performance testing and plant optimization initiatives
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
Interface with vendors, operations, maintenance, and multidisciplinary teams
Develop and update engineering standards, specifications, guidelines, and best practices
Maintain technical documentation and lessons learned records
Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and maintenance personnel
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Attend client meetings with sales teams to support current and future projects
Attend production meetings and provide status updates on managed repairs
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or equivalent
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Oil, Gas & Power industry
Proven experience in gas processing, oil & gas facilities, and utility systems
Strong background in FEED and detailed engineering
Proficiency in process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, UniSim, and ProMax
Experience with hydraulic analysis tools such as AFT Fathom, Arrow, PIPENET, or CAESAR II preferred
Familiarity with HTRI, Aspen EDR, and Advanced Excel
Knowledge of API 520/521 and ASME B31.3 standards
Strong communication and reporting skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively with vendors and cross-functional teams
