Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help grow and expand our customer base within the manufacturing sector. The company is a financially strong, long-established importer and distributor of metal and plastic components, sub-assemblies, and finished goods, serving a wide range of U.S.-based manufacturers.
This role is ideal for a highly motivated sales professional who thrives on business development and cold outreach. The successful candidate will identify new opportunities, build relationships with prospective customers, and manage projects from initial inquiry through completion. A technical sales or sales engineering background is highly preferred, as the role involves custom-engineered products and technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Research industries and identify prospective customers that align with company capabilities and services.
Drive new business through proactive outreach, lead generation, and cold calling.
Develop and support cost-effective digital marketing initiatives to increase customer engagement and website traffic.
Attend trade shows, industry events, and networking opportunities to generate leads and strengthen business relationships.
Work with prospective customers to develop inquiries and identify solutions for custom product needs.
Establish and maintain structured follow-up and communication processes with prospects.
Collaborate with international teams to support quoting and proposal development for new opportunities.
Manage customer projects from initial inquiry through completion to ensure successful execution.
Qualifications
5–10 years of experience in sales, business development, sales management, or project management.
Experience in international trade is a strong plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, with an engineering background preferred. MBA is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build relationships and work effectively across different cultures and teams.
Experience managing projects from start to finish.
Technical aptitude, including the ability to understand product drawings and basic engineering concepts.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervision.
Strong work ethic, integrity, and a proactive mindset.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
