Applications Engineer - Switchgear (#25-463)

Position Overview

We are looking for a motivated and technically proficient Applications Engineer with expertise in Microgrid Switchgear and Control Systems. This position centers on driving new business, building lasting client partnerships, and delivering innovative energy solutions that combine advanced control and electrical technologies for customers in industrial, oil & gas, and renewable sectors. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of complex electrical systems and can translate that knowledge into meaningful, results-driven solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Growth & Sales Execution

  • Generate and close new business opportunities for microgrid switchgear and control system projects.

  • Engage in proactive prospecting through direct outreach, client meetings, and participation in industry events and conferences.

  • Prepare and present tailored system proposals that align with client needs, technical requirements, and performance goals.

  • Lead contract discussions, pricing negotiations, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure successful deal closure.

  • Consistently meet or exceed sales objectives and performance targets.

Technical Solution Support

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of switchgear, control panels, PLCs, and integrated microgrid systems.

  • Collaborate with engineering to design optimal system configurations that comply with safety, performance, and reliability standards.

  • Review client documentation and technical specs to ensure proposed solutions meet all project criteria.

  • Support product demonstrations, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site commissioning as required.

Client Relationship Development

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with EPCs, end users, and strategic channel partners.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for clients throughout the project lifecycle, providing support and consultation before, during, and after installation.

  • Maintain accurate CRM entries, sales forecasts, and pipeline reports.

  • Act as a long-term partner focused on helping clients enhance energy reliability and operational efficiency.

Market & Competitive Awareness

  • Monitor trends and developments in microgrid, switchgear, and controls technology.

  • Identify opportunities in related areas such as Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), distributed power, and advanced automation.

  • Share market feedback with leadership to inform product strategy and competitive positioning.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Competencies

  • In-depth understanding of low- and medium-voltage switchgear, control systems, SCADA, and microgrid integration.

  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and control logic.

  • Experience developing proposals, preparing bids, and reviewing technical documentation.

  • Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical sales experience in switchgear, controls, or microgrid systems.

  • Demonstrated history of meeting or surpassing revenue goals in industrial, power generation, or energy sectors.
