Job Description:

A Heat Exchanger Design Process Engineer with a thermal rating focus designs and optimizes heat exchangers, ensuring they meet process requirements and thermal performance targets, while also considering factors like material selection, cost, and safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Optimization:

    • Perform thermal design of heat exchangers, including selecting appropriate types, materials, and configurations.

    • Utilize software like HTRI for heat exchanger design and simulation.

    • Optimize heat exchanger design for efficiency, cost, and manufacturability.

  • Thermal Rating and Calculations:

    • Perform thermal calculations to determine heat transfer rates, temperature profiles, and pressure drops.

    • Ensure that the heat exchanger meets the required thermal performance specifications.

    • Prepare thermal rating reports and data sheets.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work with customers and cross-functional teams, including process engineers, project managers, and design engineers.

    • Communicate design requirements and specifications to stakeholders.

    • Provide technical guidance and support for heat exchanger selection.

  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

    • Troubleshoot heat exchanger performance issues and identify root causes.

    • Develop and implement solutions to improve heat exchanger performance and reliability.

  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities to improve heat exchanger design and performance.

    • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry best practices.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • Experience: Experience in heat exchanger design and thermal engineering (Min. 5 years preferred)

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in heat exchanger design software (e.g., HTRI)

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Teamwork Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
