Job Description:
A Heat Exchanger Design Process Engineer with a thermal rating focus designs and optimizes heat exchangers, ensuring they meet process requirements and thermal performance targets, while also considering factors like material selection, cost, and safety.
Responsibilities:
Design and Optimization:
Perform thermal design of heat exchangers, including selecting appropriate types, materials, and configurations.
Utilize software like HTRI for heat exchanger design and simulation.
Optimize heat exchanger design for efficiency, cost, and manufacturability.
Thermal Rating and Calculations:
Perform thermal calculations to determine heat transfer rates, temperature profiles, and pressure drops.
Ensure that the heat exchanger meets the required thermal performance specifications.
Prepare thermal rating reports and data sheets.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work with customers and cross-functional teams, including process engineers, project managers, and design engineers.
Communicate design requirements and specifications to stakeholders.
Provide technical guidance and support for heat exchanger selection.
Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
Troubleshoot heat exchanger performance issues and identify root causes.
Develop and implement solutions to improve heat exchanger performance and reliability.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve heat exchanger design and performance.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Experience in heat exchanger design and thermal engineering (Min. 5 years preferred)
Software Proficiency: Proficiency in heat exchanger design software (e.g., HTRI)
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of heat transfer principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Teamwork Skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
