HR Generalist (#26-520)
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Position Summary:
The HR Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle with a focus on recruitment, onboarding, employee support, and HR administration. This role requires strong organization, communication, and relationship‑building skills, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
• Lead full‑cycle recruitment for hourly, salaried, technical, and professional roles.
• Partner with hiring managers to understand role requirements and hiring priorities.
• Develop and post job ads; source candidates through multiple channels.
• Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate hiring manager interviews.
• Manage candidate communication, reference checks, offers, and pre‑employment steps.
• Maintain candidate pipelines, recruitment metrics, and hiring timelines.
Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle
• Coordinate onboarding activities and prepare employment agreements and documentation.
• Facilitate orientation and ensure new hires have required resources.
• Maintain compliant employee records throughout the lifecycle.
• Prepare status change documents, verification letters, and HR correspondence.
• Support probationary reviews and offboarding activities.
HR Administration & Systems
• Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
• Support payroll and benefits administration by ensuring employee information is current.
• Track training, certifications, licences, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare HR reports, workforce metrics, and documentation.
Employee Support & Relations
• Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, programs, benefits, and general inquiries.
• Support managers with employee relations, documentation, and performance processes.
• Assist with engagement, recognition, wellness, and internal communication initiatives.
Policy, Compliance & HR Programs
• Support compliance with employment legislation and internal policies.
• Assist with policy development, implementation, and documentation.
• Support HR programs related to performance management, talent development, and succession planning.
• Participate in HR projects, process improvements, and system enhancements.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
• Track HR metrics related to recruitment, onboarding, turnover, and workforce trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, documentation, and systems.
Qualifications
Experience & Education
• Diploma or degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field.
• 1–3 years of progressive HR experience.
• Experience with full‑cycle recruitment and onboarding.
• Knowledge of employment standards, human rights requirements, and HR best practices.
• Experience with HRIS, ATS, and maintaining employee records.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong reporting, documentation, and data management skills.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
